Charly Bliss: Sängerin Eva thematisiert persönliches Trauma in der neuen Single „Chatroom“!
Die vier New Yorker Power-Popper von Charly Bliss widmen sich in der zweiten Single namens „Chatroom“ ihres zweiten Albums „Young Enough“ einem sehr ernsten Thema.
Die Frontfrau Eva Hendricks nutzte die textliche Arbeit an diesem Song, um eine schlimme persönliche Erfahrung zu verarbeiten: „I was sexually assaulted by someone I dated and I wrote ‚Chatroom‘, and most of Young Enough, as a way of processing that experience and explaining it to myself. ‚Chatroom‘ is a song about reaching ecstatic joy through consuming rage. Simply put, it’s a colossal ‚fuck you‘ and a celebration of reaching the point of a ‚fuck you‘ that isn’t diluted by self-blame or apologies.“
Analog dazu dreht sich die narrativ abgeschlossene Handlung des Clips zur neuen Single ebenfalls um Macht und Gewalt: Wie schon beim Video zur ersten Single „Capacity“ demonstriert Eva Hendricks erneut ihr schauspielerisches Talent in dem aufwändig inszenierten, cinematischen Bildmaterial. Regie führte dieses Mal Maegan Houang, die bereits mit Bands wie Mitski oder L.A. Girlfriend Erfahrungen beim Dreh von Musikvideos sammelte. Die Zusammenarbeit mit dieser Regisseurin stellte für Eva Hendricks eine außerordentlich positive Erfahrung dar: „I feel so lucky to have worked with Maegan Houang on this video. I felt an immediate sense of mutual trust, and she produced a treatment that directly addresses the themes of trauma, misogyny and mind control without resorting to a literal representation of the lyrics. It’s tonally the darkest video we’ve ever made, and I think it anchors the intent of song which might otherwise be obscured by the fact that it’s also our most direct foray into larger-than-life pop music.“

In UK werden erste Shows bereits hochverlegt, derzeit ist die Band auf dem Weg zu SXSW, bevor sie im Juli auf ausgedehnte US-Tour gehen. Glücklicherweise passt dazwischen noch eine Europa-Tour und so kommen Charly Bliss für zwei Shows auch uns:
