Kalle Mattson rückt 42 Albumcover-Klassiker in ein neues Licht
Das Video des kanadischen Songwriters Kalle Mattson zu seinem neuen Song ‚Avalanche‘ feiert heute Premiere. Gefilmt wurde es an einem einzigen Tag auf einer Bühne in Toronto. Im Video setzt Mattson 42 Cover von Alben die ihn beeinflusst haben neu zusammen. Mit dabei u.a. ‚Ramones‘ von den Ramones, ‚The Blueprint‘ von Jay Z, ‚Figure 8‘ von Elliot Smith und ‚London Calling‘ von The Clash.
Kalle Mattson über das Video: „I’ve had the video concept in my head for a long time actually. I remember being 10 or 11 years old flipping through the Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time magazine and choosing what records to borrow out of my dad’s collection based on the covers alone. All of the albums we recreated are super important to me & the video sort of serves as a window into what has influenced me growing up discovering music for the first time and then eventually writing songs. One of my main worries was that this would seem like a bit of an ego trip inserting my face into a famous Dylan cover or something but I really think it came out as a work of love for the artists, their records and the covers that also make those albums so special.“
Der Song ‚Avalanche‘ wurde produziert von Colin Munroe (Sky Ferreira, Kendrick Lamar), gemischt von Alex Aldi (Passion Pit) und gemastert von Marcus Paquin (The National, Local Natives). Die ‚Avalanche EP‘ erscheint am 2. Oktober bei unseren Freunden beim Berliner Indie-Label Trickser.
