Kovacs ist zurück! Stärker denn je mit einer neuen Single „Not Scared of Giants“ ++ Kovacs im Mai auf Tour in Deutschland ++

„Not Scared Of Giants“ wurde von dem preisgekrönten britischen Produzenten Jonathan Quarmby produziert und während des Lockdowns geschrieben: magisch, besonders und doch vertraut.

Musik ist ein Ventil für Sharon Kovacs: „When covid took away the opportunity to perform over two years ago, I had to face the fact that I was living with some demons in my head. My new single ‚Not Scared Of Giants‘ is about a moment of self-reflection, a point in time where I needed some space in order to face my insecurities.“ 

„Not Scared of Giants“ ist ein perfektes Mission Statement ihrer Musik und klingt tatsächlich befreiend. Als ob die Büchse der Pandora geöffnet worden wäre: „My producer Jonathan Quarmby (known for his work with Benjamin Clementine and Tom Walker, amongst others) knows what I want and what I need. He’s a tranquil and patient architect, able to shape each song as if it were a beautiful house. We cowrote everything, which has resulted in an intense, honest track. As of today, I’m more self-assured and stronger. Writing is a process, but I’m closer than ever to my inner core. I have created an environment in which I’m able to pursue that goal.“ 

Der Song wurde in Portugal aufgenommen und hat sich seit der Demophase kaum verändert. Zunächst fügten sowohl Künstler als auch Produzent eine atmosphärische Fado-Gitarre hinzu, aber das Endergebnis fühlte sich unzureichend an. „Je mehr Fransen wir hinzufügten, desto weniger kraftvoll wurde der Song“. Sharon und Jonathan reisten daraufhin im Februar 2022 in die Türkei, um mehrere neue Stücke aufzunehmen. Die Streicher, die man auf „Not Scared of Giants“ hören kann, sind ein Ergebnis der besagten Aufnahmesitzungen. Istanbul Strings, Istanbuls berühmte Gypsy-Combo, hat eine zusätzliche Schicht von Sensibilität beigetragen. „Das Ergebnis ist magisch und besonders„, sagt Sharon. Es ist der ideale Auftakt für weitere neue Musik, etwas, das den Appetit des Zuhörers anregt.

Im Mai kommt Kovacs für vier ausgewählte Konzerte nach Deutschland:
