Sunflower Bean haben mit „Moment In The Sun“ eine neue Single samt Video veröffentlicht!
Die Zeiten sind weiterhin unsicher. Da ist es überaus tröstend, dass zumindest auf ein paar Dinge Verlass ist. Sunflower Bean zum Beispiel: Nachdem sie 2018 ihr zweites Album „Twentytwo In Blue“ veröffentlichten und 2019 mit der EP „King Of The Dudes“ nachlegten, erscheint auch 2020 Musik des Trios aus New York City.
Gestern am 17.09. feierte die neue Single „Moment In The Sun“ ihre Premiere in der Radio-Show „Hottest Record in the World“ von Annie Mac bei BBC Radio 1.
Zu dem Song haben sich Sunflower Bean selbst wie folgt geäußert: “‘Moment In The Sun’ is about finally recognizing what is important in one’s life, the people you decide to spend it with. All of these things we distract ourselves with, the never-ending mountain of career climbing, the pursuit of financial success, and the hope that after all that trying you could finally be cool. All of that is meaningless in comparison to one great day, hour, or moment with someone you really love.”
Produziert wurde der lässig groovende Feelgood-Track mit großem Ohrwurm-Potential von Jacob Portrait vom Unknown Mortal Orchestra sowie Dave Bassett, der unter anderem schon für Vance Joy oder The Tantrums hinter den Reglern saß.
Auch das zu „Moment In The Sun“ erstellte Video kann sich mit bekannten Namen schmücken: Regie führten Andy DeLuca und Sarah Eisman, die bereits Nominierungen für die MTV Video Music Awards in ihrer Vita aufweisen können. Zudem ist in dem sommerlichen Clip neben der Frontfrau Julia Cumming auch der Schauspieler Marquis Rodriguez zu sehen, der zuletzt in der Netflix-Serie „When They See Us“ brillierte.
Auch zum Video haben Julia Cumming, Nick Kivle und Jacob Faber alias Sunflower Bean ein paar Hintergründe verraten: “While quarantining together upstate this summer we decided to make a music video for ‘Moment In The Sun.’ We thought the best way to visually represent the meaning of the song, while also taking inspiration from this isolating time everyone has been forced to live in, was to create two separate worlds. One world which exists totally inside a home, mostly in a lonely bedroom. The other world exists completely outside in the sun and is made up of memories of a summer love. We invited Marquis Rodriguez, who is one of Julia’s best friends since high school and also an incredibly talented actor, to co-star in the video. He was crucial in helping us tell the story of summer love and show those potent memories of tenderness coming to life. While living alone, the character Julia is portraying becomes flooded with memories and moments from the past summer, and as a result her bedroom starts to transform into the outdoor world. We built up the entire bedroom using real sod and flowers. Her memories are brought to life, just like the room.”

„Moment In The Sun“ ist der erste neue Song von Sunflower Bean im Jahr 2020. Das Trio aus New York veröffentlichte 2018 ihr zweites Album „Twentytwo In Blue“, das in die Top 40 des Vereinigten Königreichs aufstieg. 2019 folgte die „King Of The Dudes“-EP, die mit „Come For Me“ die bisher erfolgreichste Single der Band enthielt. Seitdem spielte das Trio unter anderem zusammen mit The Strokes im Rahmen eines öffentlichen Auftrittes des US-Demokraten Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire. Zudem tourte die Band ausgiebig mit Künstlern wie Beck, Cage the Elephant, Interpol, Courtney Barnett und vielen weiteren, während sie auch auf zahlreichen internationalen Festivals auftrat.
