The Howl & The Hum geben Veröffentlichung ihres Debütalbums bekannt und legen zwei Videos zur Single „Until I Found A Rose“ vor!
Das aus dem britischen York stammende Indie-Quartett The Howl & The Hum veröffentlicht am 29.05.2020 unter dem Titel „Human Contact“ sein Debütalbum. Vorab sind nun gleich zwei Videos zu der Single „Until I Found A Rose“ erschienen.
„Until I Found A Rose“ stellt einen der unmittelbarsten Songs aus dem bisherigen Schaffen der Briten dar. Der ebenso dynamische wie euphorische Track verdeutlicht das Gespür der Band für epische Pop-Melodien ebenso wie ihr Faible für den Post-Punk der Achtzigerjahre. Neben einem Lyric-Video haben The Howl & The Hum nun auch den Mitschnitt einer alternativen Live-Version von „Until I Found A Rose“ veröffentlicht, bei dem sie den Song mit einem Streicher-Arrangement auf eine neue Ebene brachten.

Bei „Until I Found A Rose“ handelt es sich um einen der Eckpfeiler des kommenden Debütalbums „Human Contact„, auf dem das gesamte Gefühlsspektrum abgedeckt wird und bei dem tiefgreifende Texte auf ambitioniertes Songwriting treffen. Dabei sind sowohl ein Fokus auf die Essenz eines Songs als auch weitgreifende Refrains charakteristisch. Die in den Big Jelly Studios in Kent durchgeführten Aufnahmen leitete der Produzent Jolyon Thomas, der unter anderem bereits mit U2, Royal Blood und Slaves zusammenarbeitete.
Zur thematischen Ausrichtung des Debüts „Human Contact“ und dessen Veröffentlichung in diesen turbulenten Zeiten hat der Frontmann Sam Griffiths eine ausführliche Stellungnahme abgegeben:
„Amid all the postponements and album delays at the moment, we are happy to announce that our unfortunately-titled album “Human Contact” is still coming out on 29th May.
‚Human Contact‘ is about a very modern kind of loneliness, one which doesn’t allow us to forget. These days, ever more than before, we are constantly reminded of our past: of intimate moments which have escaped us, whether these be via technology, or through a lack of personal interaction.
This album was inspired by focusing on the minutiae of relationships: all the strange objects, conversations, teenage bitterness, and silences that permeate young love and loneliness.
Recorded in September 2019, this album was written before the world fell into a period of self-isolation, which hopefully goes to prove our point of the importance of human contact in a digital age.
IF YOU LIKE, you can call us soothsayers, prophets, seers, much like The Simpsons‘ writers, for predicting unfortunate future events, we WILL begrudgingly carry that mantle (but really it’s just a breakup album).
All we have now is our memories, and that is all we are made of, so this album is a necessary exploration of trying to overcome our past, only to realise that in doing so we are losing what it is to be human.“
